Miami Winter Music Conference 2002

With Yellowdragon’s latest track “Life is a dream” to promote at the Miami music festival, there was some serious legwork to do! Having completed two tours of Cannes for the Midem music festival, Miami was a totally different vibe.

The stand element of the Miami conference is low profile but the party/club scene could not have been more buzzing.

In the day time there were informative talks and the one of special interest was Danny Tenaglia giving his views on the dance industry, alongside Roger Sanchez and friends.
Tenaglia, Sanchez and friends...

All the big name DJs from around the globe were there to showcase their talents and where it was possible a white label of “Life is a dream” was slipped into their hands.

Night-time is when the action really started for everyone. The clubs are in a class of their own and filled with exotic women bred to perfection!

On Monday after a fine party on Pete Tong’s boat it was only polite to pick him up in the back of our cab with the D’Vox magazine crew on the way to our hotel. With of course leaving a couple of vinyl for the Tong collection!

Having a drink on Todd Terry’s tab at Tantra, which is a totally cool venue, was a good start to the Tuesday evening after covering the MWC awards

At the awards Danny Tenaglia won best international DJ, Virgin best record label, Craig David Atlantic best “new” dance artist, solo and Tommy Boy's “You’re the worst thing for me” best underground 12”.

We were also treated to inspirational performances from the extremely talented Kim Sozzi...

and the equally wonderful Aubrey, who couldn't wait to get hold of "Life is a Dream"!

The Riddler won the best radio mix show DJ, and was almost as happy when he finally got his hands on a copy of "Life is a Dream"...

Skipping the VIP party we moved on to the totally happen’ Opium Garden where Pete Tong roused the crowd...

Luckily we just managed to slip inside with the Born to dance crew before the guest list closed. And who could forget the lovely Soluna?

Later we met the delightful female DJ Milly Demori and DJ Kayo - 2 lovely female dj’s of a posse of 7 flown in to play at the Tantra by Tommy Hilfiger up in the housey chillout area.

And what better way to end the week than sharing some chicken nuggets with Carl Cox in the airport lounge before we got on the plane home.

DJ Kayo shows her many talents!

Carl enjoys his chicken...
but getting his copy of Dancefloor Mantras really makes him smile!

Miami was an enlightening trip! See you next year...
